Artists and Intellectuals against attack on Syria

In the face of the imminent foreign aggression against Syria, let us raise our voices against barbarism. Por Norman Girvan

The Network of intellectuals, artists and social activists “In Defense of Humanity”, calls on all honest men and women of this world to condemn the impending attack on Syria. We appeal especially to those who do not accept a world ruled by the law of the jungle, where the right of non-intervention in the internal affairs of nations is trampled upon, where the mass killing of innocent people has become a television show with pretexts manufactured by the hegemonic media machine without genuine evidence to justify war.

As early as June of last year a lucid message was circulated by the Network from our partner Stella Calloni “to prevent another genocide under false pretenses. Let humanity accept no more “. Since then, Stella has denounced the threats of a U.S. intervention in Syria and exposed the true character of the mercenary “opposition” supported by the “greatest disinformation campaign in recent memory,” with “laboratories that have cooked up false photographs and filmed fake videos sent abroad”. Now, before our very eyes, Western analysts evaluate military options of the would-be aggressors, without giving the slightest importance to the clarifying the truth about the use of chemical weapons.

They discuss shamelessly the kind of weapons to be used, the bases from which missiles would be launched and the likely targets. Nobody talks about the human tragedy that people will suffer. For them the problem is purely technical and devoid of ethical considerations.

Let us raise our voices against this new chapter of imperial barbarism. Let’s use every avenue available to us to report the assault and the lies that accompany it.
